Geocaching Badge: Juniors

Girl Scout Juniors can use The Geocaching Crate to earn the Geocaching Badge!

PREPARE FOR YOUR ADVENTURE
Get to know the tools you need to go geocaching.

Included in the crate are a telescoping magnet, tweezers, mini screw drivers, and a compass. Also, included is a booklet that has keywords used in geocaching. You will also need a free Geocaching.com user account. You will be able to find lots of useful geocaching information on that site as well.

LEARN TO USE A GPS RECIEVER
You will learn how to use a GPS unit so you can go to the exact coordinates of the geocache you are searching for.

You can also use a GPS-enabled mobile device (smartphone) with a Geocaching App downloaded to it if you are unable to get a GPS unit.

MAKE A TRADE ITEM
You will need to make a small item to go in the geocache.

Use the clear stones in the crate to create unique items to leave for trade.

GO ON A GEOCACHING ADVENTURE
Now you can start on a Geocache adventure! Log on to Geocaching.com to find a geocache. After you’ve gone on a few adventures to find other caches, find a safe geocaching spot to hide your own! Log your cache at Geocaching.com and check back or log in to monitor who has found it.

Included in the crate are a small and a micro cache so you can create your own!
